  • Start!: Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 @ 9:00am & 9:30 (5K & 12K)
  • Start/Finish Area: Copper Mountain Resort Village
  • Type of Course: USATF Certified Course
  • Distances: Half Marathon = 13.1 miles
    12K, 5K Walk & Kids Events
  • Elevation: Start/Finish area = 9,600 ft. Highest elevation = 10,500 ft.
The Course
  • The race begins at the foot of Copper Mountain in the middle of the bustling Copper Mountain Village at Burning Stone Plaza. As you clear Copper Village you will find yourself looking out onto the vast Valley of Copper Mountain, here you’ll start heading east along Copper Road, skirting the resort village with Copper Mountain looming over you.

    After a quick run through the East Village the runners head toward the eastern edge of the mountain up to the Alpine lift and the Triple Treat area.

    Once you come back through the valley along Beeler Place, you will pass the central village and the peak of Copper Mountain as you soon will find your way onto a beautiful road path toward Vail pass.

    After a progressive uphill run on the path you return with a fast downhill into the resort where a grand musical finish awaits you on Main Street.

  • Divisions will be determined by the runner's age on race day
Climate Timing
  • Make every stride count! The US Half Marathon utilizes a computerized chip system, which records each runners actual running time to the second
  • Chip timing starts a runners time when they reach the starting line instead of when the gun goes off
  • Your finish time is then calculated precisely when you cross the finish line
  • Be sure to return your chip to the collection boxes after you finish
Water Stops & First Aid
  • Water will be available at several aid stations along the course (approximately every 2 miles), and at the finish
  • Medical teams will be at the start/finish and along the course
Smile!

  • brightroom will be at the event taking photos on the course, at the finish line and after you finish. Be sure to have your race number visible on the FRONT of your body at all times
  • Photos will be available online at brightroom.com within a few days after the race. Have a great race and we’ll see you at the finish line

Safety & Race Courtesy
  • Do not run in from the sides. It endangers you and other runners
  • No roller blades, skateboards, or bicycles
  • No strollers (Half & 12K only) or assisted wheelchairs
  • No animals (Half & 12K only)
  • Walkers and slower traffic stay to the right and line up at the back of the pack

  • A post-race festival awaits you, located right at the finish line. Enjoy refreshments, visit event sponsors, take photos with fellow racers, and reunite with family and friends
